Bear River First Nation Heritage and Cultural Centre

Winner of the 2004 Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) Crystal Tourism Award of Excellence for Tourism Innovator

Nestled in the forested hills of Bear River and among some of the most spectacular scenery in Nova Scotia, is the Bear River First Nation Heritage and Cultural Centre.

The Centre interprets the heritage and culture of the Mi’kmaq of the Bear River area. Our people have always referred to ourselves as L’nuk, meaning “The People”. Today the word “Mi’kmaq” is the name used for our people.

The Centre is a spiritual and healing place, where visitors can explore and share in our rich Mi’kmaw heritage, culture, and spirit through our colourful exhibits and artifacts, songs, plays, and stories. Visitors are also invited to enjoy the tranquil beauty of our Medicine Trail, our various workshops and demonstrations, and the many other activities and experiences that the Centre has to offer.

Join us at Bear River First Nation Heritage and Cultural Centre and…

Experience nature’s splendors as we guide you through centuries past and share with you our vision for the future.
