About Bear River First Nation

Who We Are

Mother and child Bear River First Nation is one of thirteen First Nation communities in Nova Scotia. It is also a member of the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq, a Tribal Council that provides advisory services and programs to member-communities.

Chief Frank Meuse Jr.Our Chief is Frank Meuse Jr. and our Council members are Dawn McEwan and Allan Harlow. The Band Office is located at 130 Reservation Road, just down the road from the Heritage and Cultural Centre.

There are currently under 100 Mi’kmaq living on the Reserve, while approximately 200 members reside off- Reserve in other parts of Nova Scotia, and throughout North America.
