About Us

Bear River First Nation Heritage and Cultural Centre began as a gymnasium at the request of community elementary school children in the late 1990s, and later became a community recreational centre.

The community’s ultimate vision for the Centre was that it should also be used as a cultural and visitor centre, a place where our children could discover and explore their heritage and culture, a place for us to share our culture with others, and a way through which Bear River First Nation could reach out to other communities.

Today, the Centre acts as a cultural and visitor centre, and a venue for numerous community events and gatherings.

The hard work, dedication and vision of our staff, volunteers and the Bear River First Nation community, have made Bear River First Nation Heritage and Cultural Centre a healing place, and a great source of pride for our people, truly something we can share with others.

Our heritage, our culture, and our spirit live here.
