The Mi’kmaq have always recognized the healing properties of the
many plants that grow in the forests, bogs, and barrens of southwestern
Nova Scotia. As keepers and teachers of this sacred knowledge, we have
used herbs and other plants to prevent illness, heal wounds, and cure
disease for generations.

Our Medicine Trail is home to many of these special plants used in
traditional Mi’kmaw Medicine. The Medicine Trail is a special and
spiritual place that represents our close relationship with Mother
Earth.
If
you visit the Center, be sure to embark on a holistic walk on the
Medicine Trail led by our expert guides. Please call ahead to make sure a walk is scheduled on the day of your visit.
