Wartime Contributions

Sam PictouIn times of war, our people unselfishly answered the call to arms and gave their lives for Canada. Mi’kmaw men from Bear River fought and died for Canada in both the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. Our traditional skills as hunters and guides made us invaluable as excellent reconnaissance scouts and marksmen.
